Steve's Reef Tank

        Here is my 90 gallon SPS & clams reef tank.

There is 110lbs. of Live Rock & 130lbs. of Live Sand plus an additional 50lbs. of Southdown playsand on the bottom for an average sandbed depth of 5 inches.

    Lighting is two 250watt 10,000K Ushio Metal Halide bulbs above the tank. A Power Compact Fluorescent 03 actinic comes on to light the tank for most of the day starting at 8:30am and turning off 30 minutes after the Metal Halides at 10pm.

    Also the sumps ( two - 15g custom built sumps connecterd by 3" bulkheads) are on a reverse daylight cycle & it is lit by a 55watt 71,00K Power Compact Fluorescent.

My DIY Calcium Reactor has been running since 1/26/02 keeping Ca & Alkalinity levels right & eliminating the need for (costly) additives.

    The residents are: 1 Yellow Tang (Z. flavescens), 1 Mandarin Goby (Synchiropus splendidus), 1 six line wrasse, 1 fire shrimp, 1 red serpent star , 3 Cleaner Shrimp (Lysmata amboinensis), 5 Peppermint Shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni), about 20 astrea, 3 cerith snails, about 16 red leg & 50 blue leg hermits.

         Corals include: 3 - T. crocea clams, 1 - T. squamosa clam, Clove polyp frags, some mushrooms plain, 4 colors of motipora capricornis (green, brown w/purple rim, orange, & red), some montipora digitata (4 colors dark green, green, pruple, & brown) A. millipora species about 4 different colors, some A. horrida, A. yongei, M. capitata, acorpora branching staghorns, 2 pocillapora colonies, green star polyps, a galaxia colony (started from a single coralite), & around 14 various colored zoanthid colonies spread out through the tank.

        Best viewing time is 2:00pm - 10:00pm this is when the lights are all on
